Winter's Song

~ walking along the edge of a long dark path, lit in moonlight covered by shadow. No sounds along the way, ice dusting the trees, snow showing the foot prints leading to this spot. Hearth and home far away, tiny flakes falling on inky eyelashes, dark hair sweeping around her face. Long black coat sweeping close to bared ankles, as the skirt underneath slides across long legs, warmth long since seeped from fingers, and yet a touch of amusement brushes her lips.~ ~Winter does weep in long icy tear drops,
bringing clouds and darkness across the lands,
A silent song of wonder and peace falls like a veil,
All things unknown, all things uncertain,
for the right path is rarely to show.~

~I am long forgotten, those that would miss me passed away,

forever in spring filled groves they dwell,

while the eternal winter and night fall is where I dream.

I follow the path as I might,

not wearily, but sometimes too well,

paying no heed to the calling words,

that faded away so many footsteps back,~

~ I am winter's song,

sweeping from the autumn's glory,

falling over the last of the colder blossoms,

and chasing those home to hearth and fire,

to escape.~
